Too old for fairytales,
too immature for reality
Communication has its ways
Hickory Dickory
duck before the clock's right hand
hath struck to one
there lies a Strapped time bomb
set to blow without contingency plans
there's no room for a change of mind
to not see the intended consequences
by all means explode with hate, without justifications
and breathe burning remembrances more intoxicating than poison
just don't start creating lousy nursery crimes
not the same egghead that shouldn't
have sat in the wall
merely to fall
In faith that its own fairytale could fix
what all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't
eight-year-olds know better
reality's poison apples are never
as ironic as stories that lead
to happily ever afters
Not the same puppet
who had a cricket for a conscience
A very long nose It's still wearing
but its wooden heart not caring
The cow jumped over the moon
A prince was thrown by a witch from the top of a tower
we weren't told if both survived
but we're sure that one did, and it's not sorry for the other
Apology expectancies are like beanstalks
they lead to castles in the air
and often when they aren't said
people grind your bones to make their bread
so go down the clock mouse
and start being a man
not a prince nor a frog or a former duckling swan
